The six arenas

Pufferio player guide

An arena never changes your controls, hold, release, done. What it changes is the floor under your plans. Each hazard makes a different habit lethal, which is why the game rotates them: a strategy that wins Classic gets you killed on Cactus.

Classic

The plain shrinking ring, nothing else. This is the reference arena where the pure game happens: center control, air discipline, launch timing. If you lose here, it was not the floor’s fault.

Ice

Almost no friction. Every bump, launch and nudge keeps sliding long after it would have stopped anywhere else. Momentum becomes a debt you cannot cancel. The classic Ice death is scoring a beautiful knockout and then following your victim out because nothing would stop you. Play smaller and earlier: gentle corrections work on ice, emergency brakes do not.

Cactus

Cactuses stand in the ring, and an over-inflated puffy that touches one pops: out, instantly, no bump required. Big is no longer safe by default: every cactus projects an invisible circle where full puff is suicide. Herd inflated opponents toward the needles and watch them choose between deflating (small and shoveable) or popping.

Wind

A wind blows across the ring, shoving the light and ignoring the heavy. Inflation is suddenly an anchor, not just armor: small puffies drift downwind constantly, and the downwind rim is the arena’s hungriest edge. Fight upwind when small; when someone upwind of you deflates to launch, sometimes the wind finishes your work for free.

Trampoline

Pads on the floor fling whoever touches them: you, and anyone you shove onto them. The pads are neutral: they are escape hatches, catapults and executioners depending entirely on who arrives at what angle. The best trampoline players stop avoiding the pads and start using them as the fastest route across a crowded ring.

Fire

Vents in the floor glow, then erupt. Touch the fire and you are gone. The glow is the tell: every eruption is announced a beat early, so the arena is a rhythm of spaces that are about to stop being safe. Shove opponents onto warming vents and hold them there a half-second. The floor does the knockout, and you keep your air.
